Day by Day
1. Lacombe to Golden BC- October 7, 2020- 426km
We stayed at the Days Inn and golfed in Golden the next day - we were paired with a fellow golfer from Red Deer!
2. Golden BC to Vernon BC- October 8, 2020 - 295 km
Stayed somewhere in Vernon that I don't remember! We hadn't been on this route for quite a while so it was nice to gawk about - traffic was very quiet
3. Vernon BC to Osoyoos BC - October 9 - 174 km
We stayed with dear friends at their condo in Osoyoos for one night and golfed. Was very beautiful there
We left Osoyoos and headed to Mission BC to spend Thanksgiving and Adam's 35th birthday with Adam, Trevor and Dexter
Unfortunately Sid fell out of a tree while doing some fall clean up with the boys and sprained his ankle - so that was the end of golf for this trip!
5. Mission BC to Campbell River BC via ferry crossing from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo - 238 km October 12
We stayed in Campbell River and I did a solo hike- very scenic drive
Did some nice walks through Port Hardy and checked out the local fare. All businesses are very covid aware!
At 5pm we loaded our Honda onto a ferry crossing to Prince Rupert BC. The fare for this crossing was around $700 for two people and a car - had to prebook and prepay
Because of the pandemic there was not much open for food service on the ferry - so we packed our own lil wine and cheese party. The ferry docked in Prince Rupert at 11:00 the next morning. We had planned to spend a day or two in Prince Rupert but because of Sidney's sprained ankle, coupled with rain, we headed east toward home. Very beautiful drive along the Skeena River, we stayed overnight at Burns Lake
8. Burns Lake BC to Edson AB October 16, 2020 766km
This was a very long day of driving in an early winter storm. We came across this mess right out of Burns Lake
9. Edson Ab to Lacombe Ab via Edmonton October 17, 2020 - 327 km
The overnight low dipped to minus 12!! Drove to Edmonton to collect Maxine - had a very nice lunch with our favourite daughter and drove home!
In all we drove 3286 km and had two ferry crossings. We intended to take our time coming home but that was not to be!
